What Is a Man With a Van Service?

It's a lighter version of a removal service. Instead of two movers and a large truck, you get one dedicated mover and a smaller van for jobs that don't need more than that. That mover handles loading, driving, and unloading on their own. If your job turns out to need more muscle, like a heavy appliance or a tricky staircase, we'll add a second mover so nothing gets forced or risked. You'll know either way before the job starts.

When Does a Man With a Van Make Sense?

Here's what happens from booking to drop-off.

1. Tell us what needs moving, and where it's coming from and going to.
2. We work out whether one mover is enough or a second is needed, then confirm a fixed price.
3. Your mover, or two if the job calls for it, arrives with the van and loads carefully.
4. The van drives straight to your drop-off point.
5. Everything is unloaded and placed where you want it.

How Is This Different From a Traditional Removalist?

A traditional removalist booking, like our house or office removal service, comes with two movers and a truck sized for a full property. A man with a van is built for smaller jobs where that setup would be more than you need. If your move grows beyond a few items or a single room, we'll say so upfront and suggest a full removalist booking instead.

What Determines the Moving Cost?

Cost comes down to the size of the van and crew your job actually needs. Our man with a van service runs on our smallest 3-tonne van at $130 an hour, which covers one mover for most light jobs. If a second mover is needed, that gets built into your fixed quote upfront, so there's no surprise once the job is underway. Distance and access, like stairs or parking, can also affect how long the job takes.
