Farm Country on the Road to the Otways

Barongarook is a rural area in the Colac Otway Shire, postcode 3249. It sits about 10 km south of Colac, on the way to the Otway Ranges. The area had 458 people at the 2021 census, up from 434 in 2016.

Most homes here are on farms or large country blocks. That means bigger loads, longer driveways and more outdoor items than a town move.

Two Places With Almost the Same Name

Barongarook and Barongarook West are two different places, and they share the same postcode, 3249. It’s easy to mix them up on a booking.

When you ask for a quote, give us your full street address and the right place name. We’ll check the location before moving day, so the crew goes straight to your door.

Hills, Gravel Tracks and Farm Gates

The land here was settled for dairy farms, grazing and potato growing. Many homes still have gravel driveways, farm gates and paddocks close to the house.

Tell us how wide your gate is, what the driveway is like and where a truck can turn. If a big truck won’t fit, we’ll bring a smaller one or carry items a short way.

An Old Railway and Timber Area

Barongarook was once a stop on the narrow railway between Colac and Beech Forest, which ran from 1902 to 1962. Timber work was a big part of local life, and the area still has a sawmill and a community hall.

Some older homes from these early days have small doors and narrow hallways. We take apart beds and big furniture when needed, so nothing gets damaged.

Wet Winters Near the Otways

Being close to the Otways, Barongarook can get a lot of rain in winter. Gravel and dirt driveways can turn soft and slippery. If heavy rain is forecast, we’ll talk to you a few days before about a backup date.

Shopping and Supplies in Colac

Barongarook has no main shopping strip, so most people shop in Colac. Grab boxes and tape early, or ask us to bring packing materials. We can also pack for you and store your things if your new home isn’t ready.

Small Details That Slow Down Barongarook Moves

Most of these are easy to avoid with a quick message before moving day.

Barongarook Mixed Up With Barongarook West

The names are close, and the postcode is the same. Give us your full street address, so there’s no confusion.

A Gate Too Narrow for the Truck

Some farm gates and driveways are too tight for a big truck. Send photos first, and we’ll pick a truck that fits.

A Muddy Driveway After Rain

Wet weather can make dirt tracks unsafe for a heavy truck. Choose a backup date, and we’ll check the forecast with you.

Sheds Left Off the List

Farm homes often have sheds full of tools, bikes and garden items. List everything, so we bring the right truck and book enough time.

Farm Gear Isn’t Household Furniture

We move household belongings. Farm machinery and livestock aren’t part of our service, so please plan for those separately.

What Barongarook Removalists Charge

We charge by the hour for a truck and two movers: $120 for 3 tonne, $130 for 4.5 tonne, $170 for 8 tonne and $190 for 10 tonne. Rates stay the same on weekends.

You get a fixed written quote before you book, and that’s what you pay. When you compare Removalists Barongarook prices, look at the final total, not just the hourly rate.
